Ready for some pizazz? I recently jived up our meatballs routine to make something a little more festive. I am not normally and sweet person, but these turned out pretty well.

Sweet and Spicy Slow Cooker Meatballs

  • 3 lbs ground beef (93%)
  • 3eggs
  • 1 tablespoons minced dried onions
  • 1 tablespoon powdered garlic
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons crushed hot red pepper
  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce like Frank’s Red or 2 tablespoons mega hot sauce like Dave’s Insanity.

Mix juice, sugar, and hot sauce in a jar, cover and shake.
Place all  other ingredients in a large bowl and mix them by hand until intermixed thoroughly.  Roll into 50 small balls (about 1 inch diameter). Brown the meatballs in a frying pan on medium heat until they are browned enough to hold together well. Transfer meatballs to a slow cooker (Crock pot).
Pour the sweet & spicy sauce mixture over meatballs. Cover slow cooker and turn to high for two hours. Gently stir meatballs and turn to low for two or more hours.

You can brown them the night before and start the slow cooker the day you intend to serve. Dont for get how spicy they might be depending on the hot sauce you used. Using After Death or Dave’s Insanity sauces can be intense!
