Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription where each month you receive a Glam Bag with around five samples focusing on makeup and sometimes nails or skin care. The cost is only $110 per year with occasional savings options, and you can purchase full sized items from your bag on your Ipsy account for a discount.
In this month’s bag:
- Hikari Cosmetics Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Iris – value $15
- Smashbox Cosmetics Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer (5ml) – value $12
- MicaBeauty Angle Eye Shadow Brushes – value $22.95
- NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Shadow – value $6
- NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Serum (20ml) – value about $10
Total value around $65.95.
OK. The NYX shadow is great. I wasn’t sure about the fireball color, but with the right other shades, it works and is fun. The hikari liner is a bust for me, but that is because of the iris color. It really doesn’t show up very well with my eyes and skin tone. Actually, it is the same color as the skin around my eyes. I think it would look great on someone who is pale with hazel eyes though. I always like the quality of hikari though. the Micabeauty brush is decent. It is not too soft, not too firm, it doesn’t shed, and the angle is good. not much else to say about a brush. The Smashbox insta-matte is just not something I care about. Whether or not my lips are matte or shiny is so not on this busy mom’s radar. If I am wearing lipstick at all, it is already a great day! The NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Serum is a nice treat. the sample size is 2/3 the size of full. It smells good and feels clean. I will use it at night only, since the morning doesn’t need anything more on my face.
Overall, it was an OK glambag. Two out of three items is a pass!

Let’s check out BB5!
The December Beauty Box 5 is here! (Affiliate links)
Beauty box 5 is a beauty subscription box with 4-6 sample size (and sometimes full sized) beauty products like makeup and toiletries.
It is $12 a month by the month, $10 a month with a 3-month subscription, or $8.25 a month with an annual subscription. Sometimes the value of the box can be six times what I pay for a subscription!
In December’s box:
- Jelly Pong Pong Liquid Gossamer – value $22.95
- Neutrogena Rainbath – value $1?
- Amlactin Cerapeutic restoring body lotion – value $2.99
- Professional freezing finish spray – value $3
- Hikari Lip gloss – value $13
Total value about $43?
So two out of five are full size. I received the salsa color in the Hikari lip gloss, so that is a win. It is a little sticky, so I would use a moisturizer over it. I have not tried the Jelly Pong Pong Liquid Gossamer yet, since it seems more like a Spring thing. The Neutrogena bath gel is well, bath gel. smells good! The Professional freezing finish spray goes a long way, so the little bottle is actually kid of nice. Amlactin lotion is supposed to be great for the little bumps on your upper arms. I don’t have that, but my sister does and her dermatologist suggested the Amlactin over more expensive options. I seem to be developing a little rough patch on my neck this winter, so I will give it a whirl!
This box was one of those that I wasn’t wowed by, but everything is useful and nothing will go to waste, so I am good with it.
OH! There was also a $20 gift code to yourminerals. Since you can get a nice little mineral blush for $22, that is nice!
