The Girl Room Before & After

The Girl Room Before & After 1

If you recall, I never really did an “after” with the last girl room. Two toddlers in one bedroom generally doesn’t allow for a decent after picture. However, this time I was smart and instituted some toy storage that puts me in control of the mess and clutter. What can I say? I’m a slow learner apparently.

This room was originally a disorganized and not really decorated domicile of my eldest son. We moved him down to the basement after the recent renovation. (I still have to show you that!)

I pointed out that just painting the walls with a more reflective color, majorly brightened up the room.

The inspiration board basically served as my to-do list for this room.

I patched up damage on the walls before painting. I removed an old blind system that was defunct. I painted the interior of the closet and added butterfly decals to the closet walls. From there, it was a whirlwind of assembling beds and a dresser.

One dresser is vintage and the other is from IKEA. Both beds are from Wayfair. We already had the rug, lamps, and homemade flag bunting. This room was definitely the most fun since it was structurally already done, so it really involved shopping!

This room is small and narrow, so none of these pictures are very good.

Since we needed to purchase beds and mattresses, along with the dresser, bedding, and little items, I did end up spending about $800. Which is pretty cheap when you consider we started with almost no furniture. This room is pretty cramped, and I am sure in a few years, they will grumble about it, but the furniture and decor are something that can grow with them for many years. I avoided art on the walls since I want to stay away from visual clutter in a such a tight space. I still need to eventually get custom blinds and some hook boards, but it is finished for now.
