Why strive for fair trade?
Fair trade means the policies, procedures, payment, and working conditions are FAIR. When an item is sold through a fair trade company, it means no child labor was involved. It means the workers were paid a fair, living wage that can help them pay for food, medical care, and education. It means you are supporting a system with a trickle down effect that helps the economy of the worker’s community.

Education and More is a nonprofit christian organization working to reduce poverty in Guatemala. How? Talented women (mothers, daughter, sisters,) use their strengths to create beautiful handcrafted artisanal woven textiles. Education and More then organizes Fair Trade sales of the goods and the artisans receive a fair, living wage for their hard work.
Education and More has a really cool set up. Yes, you can purchase items directly from the website shop. However, the really fun part is hosting a party. Sales parties are nothing new. Many people, usually women, have hosted sales parties for food storage containers, makeup, baskets, and more. An artisanal textiles party through Education and More though, supports women on a whole other level. Most of the creators of these beautiful napkins, tablecloths, scarves,, etc., are women raising children and trying to better their lives. Hosting a fair trade sale means you are trying to make a difference in the lives of these women and supporting their economy. You don’t need to travel far and wide to help fight poverty!

So much love for this. Around the world women are incredibly skilled but dont get paid a living wage for their talents. this is awesome. there need to be more programs like this in the world.
