Girls Room & Nursery: Before Pictures and Aspirations

Girl Nursery mood Board

A little girl room and nursery. My girls will be 2.5 years apart and room sharing for their entire time in our home, so I figured I would make it a little paradise for them. I will admit, I am not the best girl mom. I am pretty bad at that froufrou stuff. I have barely any hair accessories for my daughter. I almost never shop for clothes for her. I often put her in her brother’s hand me downs. I decided it was finally time to give it a real try and embrace some girly stuff.

This little girl room project should not be too hard or expensive, right? I mean, I already have a black vintage dresser that was purchased by my grandparents 53 years ago. I have that pink and grey chevron rug, and I already ordered the white blinds. I purchased a bunch of fabric last year with the intention of making a flag bunting and never got around to sewing it up. I figure that should be an easy project since I was going to to go with the frayed edge look. I need a second white crib and accessories, but they will be budget pieces. my husband is picking up a little chair tonight for the little reading corner. I know our daughter will love having a chair and bean bag in a little reading corner with some book mounts along the walls.

Any suggestions for a pink heart wall decal?

Now we just need to get started so it can be mostly done by the time the baby gets here.  I am leaving the greyish wall color and removing the ugly curtains of course!

Hopefully, it will be much brighter!

  1. If you get some of that iron on stuff that you use for appliqués (Walmart sells it for cheap) and iron it to the fabric you like you can then iron it on to the wall…maybe use some of the same fabric as the buntings in the shapes of the hearts, you could cut their names out too.

I’m working on two room redos right now…one for the new baby on the way and moving my older two into the same room. The big kids room needed to be fun bright and gender neutral (while keeping some girly stuff for my daughter. I made some multi colored curtains, some bump ting flags, and a few other simple projects…I’m loving how it’s turning out…now to decide on how to redo the nursery girly while keeping the navy blue curtains 🙂

P.s. I love the inspiration pieces

    1. Probably not. I would like white trim better, especially since this fake oak trim is nothing special, but after painting trim in another room and seeing how labor intensive it is to do the right way, I will wait. although i would love to replace the hollow core doors on the closet to brighten it up.
