My kids love being outside, even in cold weather. I spend a significant amount of time pushing a double stroller around the lake and between the light reflecting off of the concrete and water, it can be very bright out. I always wear sunglasses myself while out, but did not have any eye wear to protect my kids. While out walking we have a large canopy for the stroller, but I really wanted to get my toddler some sunglasses for at the park and pool. I am really pleased to protect those young eyes with Real Kids Shades!

Real kids Shades are the perfect eye protection for kids who love the outdoors. Each pair of Real Kids Shades is durable and shatter resistant, making them able withstand rough treatment by busy children.

All products by Real Kids Shades are CPSIA Compliant, CE Certified, and FDA Approved to provide 100% UVA and UVB protection.

I recently got a pair of Real Kids Shades glasses for my 2 year old to try out. These are from the My First Shades collection for toddlers aged 2 to 5.

The My First Shades collection has great features for active toddlers. Instead of ear rests, these glasses have a neoprene band with a Velcro strip for a secure fit. Also, neoprene floats, so if the glasses happen to slide off, they won’t sink in the lake. The band eliminates the need for hinges and allows the sunglasses to wrap around a bit on the edges making them fit closer to the eyes and provide more peripheral protection. The frame and lenses are polycarbonate and can even be fitted for prescription lenses!

I like the adjustable band since they can grow with your child’s head and fit multiple kids. My son is two and a half, so I got him the size for 2 to 5 years. They are a little big on him still, even on the tightest setting, but they still stayed on his head unless he pulled them off. Not only are they cute, but they really do fit close to the eye socket for maximum light blockage!

Even though this size is way too big, I tried them on my almost eight month old as well since she has a big head. I think she really liked them! She didn’t even try to take them off.

Real Kids Shades are great quality. My toddler tried to bend them in half the first chance he had and they did not break!  Being shatter proof and impact resistant is a really great feature since kids are rough on everything. My husband wants a similar pair for himself for biking. Check out Real Kids Shades for yourself!

Have you put protective eye wear on your kids?
