Glow Bug Cloth Diapers

One size pocket diapers with dual gussets are all the rage right now. Recently, we took part in the Green Family Giveaway event sponsored by Glow Bug Cloth Diapers. Glow Bug is actually bringing out their new 2012 collection of prints and colors in October,so you can have a whole new set of adorable diapers to enjoy! I actually wrote about how Glow Bug Cloth Diapers worked on newborns back in January for a newborn cloth diapering series and now I am returning to this brand to cover how it is working now that my daughter is eight months old and over 15 pounds.

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers are one size and size down small enough to fit an infant as small as eight pounds. With four levels of rise settings and crossover tabs, the size range is actually 8-35 pounds!

The outer layer is a polyurethane (PUL) waterproof lining with complimentary snaps and elastic for a snug, comfy fit.

Instead of the typical microfleece or microsuede lining, the inner lining on Glow Bug Cloth Diapers is a unique SlimDry™ fabric that reminds me of jersey cloth only silkier feeling. SlimDry™ fabric keeps skin dryer feeling than natural fibers, but is not bulky like microfleece. Each diaper has dual leg gussets for double protection against leaks and dual opening on each end as well. The dual openings make washing easy since you can leave the insets snapped in. No unstuffing, just toss it right into the washing machine! The front opening has a water resistant flap for both keeping the insert secure, as well as preventing front end wicking. Aside from holding the insert more securely, the snap in feature is nice since the inert stays attached to the diaper while washing. it is nice not having to search for the matching insert when putting the cloth diapers together. My only con on the inserts and snapping feature is that both inserts cannot snap at the same time. I wish the inserts had an extra snap to attach them to each other. That way I could have BOTH soaker still attached.

Some people think Glow Bug cloth Diapers run a little small, but my kids are petite so I cannot really comment on that topic. I personally like the size and fit of these diapers. They fit my infant well when she was in Glow Bug diapers as a newborn, and they continue to fit well now that she is nearly nine months and 15 pounds.

She has plenty of room to grow and no gaping! We also do not have any wing droop in these despite there not being a hip snap.

Glow Bug Cloth diapers are actually one of the better choices for one size diapers on newborns.  They size down very small and do not gap as much in the legs. They still work great on my infant today and fit well on my petite 2.5 year old. The SlimDry™ fabric seems to stain easily and I have not tried to remove the stains since they do not bother me. It is a diaper after all! My only annoyance with these diapers is how they flip inside out every time in the wash. This of course gets them very clean, but adds to my diaper folding time. Not too shabby for my only complaint! You can purchase a dozen Glow Bug diapers for just $150 and the package includes a wet bag!

    1. Yes, that is the one big negative about glow bug. People usually like to buy one diaper to make sure they like them before committing to a dozen.

  1. I agree I was disappointed to learn you have to buy 12. I bought 4 glowbugs from a co-op and thought we had to just get 12 because of the co-op. I am honestly impressed but still not convinced enough to buy 12, esp since I am trying to convince my husband we can afford to switch to cloth and the deal was I would invest in 4. That would cut down on the amount we spent on sposies and then next month I could get 4 more. I figured switching over slowly was better than not switching at all and didn’t give my husband the sticker shock of ordering a full stash at once.

    1. Yeah, on the one hand, I understand why they do it that way. It saves on shipping and credit card fees to force larger orders. One the other hand, it must really cut down on the number of sales they make. There are times i would love a couple more, but I really don’t need a dozen more.
The sticker shock is certainly a chock. Especially with how much materials have gone up in cost. cloth diapers really increased in price when the cost of cotton went way up.
