Most commercial bug sprays are filled with chemicals, alcohol, and often, DEET. I can admit that DEET has a time and a place, but only in certain regions in wilderness. The rest of us can usually get by with a more natural, mild insect spray. Still, I wanted to see just how well BALM! Baby SHUE BUG! could hold up in extreme conditions, so I sent the bottle off with four men in the North Woods for five days.
The verdict? Mr.JAC loved this spray! He said it worked really well on the trail during the day time. All of the guys really liked the smell and thought it did a good job of keeping mosquitoes away. They also liked how it did not leave a sticky film on their skin. The only con was that BALM! Baby SHUE BUG! wears off more quickly than sticky commercial brands, which is to be expected when the active ingredients are essential oils. I was really ecstatic that I was able to show hardcore outdoors men that a natural solution could be used even part-time on a 60 mile trek through remote woods and swamps.
At home we use it just around the lake trail for those pesky biting flies. I don’t feel bad using this spray on my toddler to protect his sensitive skin from bug bites. I definitely recommend BALM! Baby SHUE BUG! to anyone looking for a mild insect repellant without mystery chemicals.
