Itti Bitti D’Lish Cloth Diapers

The Bitti D’Lish snap-in-one cloth diaper is sort of like a tongue style All-In-One, but the tongues snap in, hence the snap-in-one label. The waterproof outer layer is a soft minky.

The inner lining is stay-dry suede cloth. The snap in tongue style soaker pad that lays on top has a stay dry layer that lays against baby, but the rest of the soaker material is absorbent bamboo.

There are two areas with snap-in soaker capability for adjustable absorbency. They each snap on opposite ends of the diaper and overlap.

One soaker is all bamboo and is meant to sit beneath the tongue shaped soaker pad. The red snaps shown here are for adding additional snapping layers. Additional snap-in layers can be purchased separately.

Each snap-in pad has color corresponding snaps for easy assembly after washing. The colored snaps are nice, since it makes it so easy.

The under layer soaker pad is actually a fold-to-fit bamboo insert. I like this feature since the single sewn layer is easy to wash and you can fold it to place the absorbency where you need. I have a boy, so I like to fold the bulk of the absorbent material toward the front. You can purchase additional snap-in booster sets that include both soaker pads shown. The snaps on these are the same size as many popular fitted cloth diapers on the market that have tongue shaped snap-in soakers. I tried snapping the pads into other diapers and they fit great. If anything, I think the booster sets are a good buy if you like fitteds, but need more absorbency,  or would like the stay-dry top layer.

I chose the Lime green in a size medium, which is supposed to fit 14 to 26 pounds. My 18 month old is almost 24 pounds, but he is fairly thin, so I thought I would give the medium a try.

Itti Bitti brand cloth diapers are known for running quite small. The company itself states their diapers are meant to be very trim and low-rise. I like low-rise diapers, so I think the fit is just fine. It is what I would call a bikini fit. For those of you who like the waist line closer to the belly button, these probably wouldn’t be your style. Considering the way the medium fit my 24 pounder, I would say these do run true to the size advertised if your child is very proportioned for height and weight.

It fits my son nice and snug around the thighs, but the soft suede cloth and minky left no red marks. Although it seemed quite snug, he never showed and signs of discomfort. The Bitti D’Lish is super cute! My little guy has been on the same waist snaps in all of his diapers for about a year. He just gets taller, so this diaper may actually work until potty training for him. Since the waist snaps can overlap, I imagine it will fit the next baby fairly early on.

I have used this diaper through quite a few changes. It never seems to be drenched. For being so trim, it has not leaked at all and seems to hold a significant amount of liquid. I would never try it as an overnight option, but it works just fine for naps. The suede cloth on the top laying pad seems to repel poop. In a good way. Even sticky poop swished right off in the toilet with ease.

I usually unsnap the pads and rinse them quickly before placing everything in the pail. A few times, I have not and put the whole thing snapped together into the pail. It unsnapped by itself in the washing machine, but I use heavy agitation. If you wash on a gentler cycle, it would probably stay together.

Overall, I really like this diaper. It is very cute, fits well, and is easy to clean. Having the layers snap in makes it quick drying compared to true All-In-Ones. It fits very snug across the back, which is important to me since my son likes to go “mining for gold” in the back of his diaper. The tight waist on these prevents any poo mishaps. With the dual absorbency options, they are very customizable. I would like to try the Bitti D’Lish AIO to compare.

I would recommend sizing up for most people. Especially if your baby has a more generous waistline. I know the medium on my son would not be able to fit more soaker pads if I wanted extra absorbency. However, I think the included snap-in pads provide about as much as you would want between diaper changes anyway. This diaper fits perfectly under a pair of jeans, but it is such a pity to cover it up.
